A hands-on, ears-open workshop exploring the audible but often invisible places around us.
Using lo-fi listening tools such as funnels and pipes, as well as contact microphones, geophones, hydrophones and radio receivers, you’ll experiment with different ways of sensing sound. Blindfolds and ear defenders will be used to heighten awareness and shift perception, while microphones will let us listen down into the ground and up into the atmosphere.
The workshop will take place both indoors and outdoors, including a walk up to Kingsdown overlooking the city.Open to everyone — no skills or experience needed. Just bring curiosity, an open ear, and a willingness to play.

United Models Life Drawing

19:00 - 21:00Relaxed, untutored United Models Life Drawing sessions - every Tuesday. All welcome; regulars, newbies and everyone in between.
Always two models posing, with poses ranging from 30 seconds to 20 minutes.
There will be a break, to share your drawings and pop to the bar.
Basic drawing materials are available. Bring your own paper/sketchbook, if you can. -

Popon, PanOrama, Lucia Sellars & Annie Gardiner
Saturday 7th March
19:00 - 23:00Popon is a sound artist, whose performances combine voice, small acoustic instruments, found objects and electronics to sculpt dense and atmospheric worlds of sound.
PanOrama blends improvisation, synthesis, cello, electronics and film, they aim to bridge past and present, guided by experimental techniques.
Annie Gardiner is a musical adventurer. a listener and maker of many styles, interested in sound as inspiration, sculpture and texture and spontaneous improvisation.
Lucia Sellars plays with text, art and moving images and will provide accompanying feminist readings to the evening. -

Dog Draw
Wednesday 22nd March
14:30 - 16:30Dog Life Drawing with artist Cai Burton.
Join this art class with a difference and get to know your fluffy models with a tail who just love scratches, pets and treats. Each class will feature multiple dogs of all shapes and sizes. Try to keep up with the dogs movements and capture a variety of sketches, or spend longer on timed exercises led by artist Cai Burton.
Classes are fun and relaxed, with the bar open for refreshments. -

Bristol New Music

BNM returns in late April for five nights and days of rolling concerts, performances, audiovisual works and installations in exhibition spaces, venues, concert halls and unusual locations around the city, traversing the outer realms of contemporary music, sound and visual arts.
